All you have to do is click a button. Pretty cool, huh?

Open source project owners can embed the widget on their site, providing a simple test-drive experience for their users.

Here’s how it works. The user accesses the widget either directly through the Cloudify Player page or from the embedded widget on the project owner’s site. The user clicks the play button, and sits back, relaxes and watches their app deploy on their cloud of choice right before their eyes. Behind the scenes, the Player communicates with a widget server that manages a pool of virtual machines deployed on the cloud, each “bootstrapped” with a running Cloudify manager. When a user click the “Play” button, the server instantly borrows a VM from the pool, connects to the Cloudify manager that runs on it over REST, issuing the recipe installation command. The application or tool is then deployed and installed on the server, providing the user with a hassle-free demo.

The Cloudify Player takes you from simple trial to full production in a matter of minutes. Check it out today!

For more information about the Player, please see Uri Cohen’s blog post Introducing the Cloudify Player as well as Nati Shalom’s blog post Using the Cloudify Player as an Open Source Framework for Building Your Own Cloud Application Marketplace on OpenStack.

A domain-specific language (DSL) is a programming language or specification language dedicated to a particular problem domain, a particular problem representation technique, and/or a particular solution technique. Cloudify, the open-source PaaS stack, uses a Groovy-based DSL to define ‘recipes’ which include all of the information required to run a service in the cloud, including lifecycle, monitoring, scaling and more. The Groovy DSL is integrated into the Java based Cloudify stack.

In this talk Barak will discuss why we chose to use a DSL, and why Groovy specifically, and how the DSL is implemented.

One of those features is the recipe repository. It allows you to “mirror” any git repository, letting the Cloudify manager clone it to its local disk and expose all the recipes it contains using the web console. You can then browse these recipes directly from the web console, easily modify files and install services and applications with a single click.

Call for Papers is open until April 15. If you would like to speak at OpenStack Israel’s third conference, submit your proposal today.

Following the event, a three day training session will be held by StackOps Technologies, a native OpenStack company. In this training, attendees will be introduced to the latest OpenStack cloud software Grizzly release and learn how to deploy their own OpenStack environment. Sign up to secure your spot in the training.

Looking forward to a great event!

The event will be held Tuesday, March 19 at DUMBO Startup Lab (68 Jay St. Suite 718 Brooklyn, NY).

Abstract: The massive computing and storage resources that are needed to support big data applications make on-demand, elastic cloud environments an ideal fit. However, managing your big data app on the cloud is no walk in the park - configuration, orchestration, H/A, auto-scaling are all quite complex when it comes to choosing the right cloud for you, whether it’s public, private or a hybrid cloud - which is where Cloudify and Eucalyptus come together. In this session, you’ll learn how to deploy, manage, monitor and scale your big data apps on public clouds such as EC2 and private clouds such as the open source Eucalyptus cloud platform, as well as easily test drive your apps locally and then migrate the workload to Amazon Web Services EC2.

Hope to see you there!

Install Elasticsearch with Cloudify on any cloud

Elasticsearch gives your application a fast and painless real-time search solution with a completely free search schema. Cloudify enables you to install any number of Elasticsearch instances on any cloud without changing your code at all.

After the installation, Cloudify can automatically scale your application from one machine to hundreds.

Here’s a video that shows a demo of how to install Elasticsearch with Cloudify on any cloud.
